One Health Group plc (AIM: OHGR), the independent provider of NHS-funded surgical procedures for patients referred from the NHS through ‘Patient Choice’, provides an update to shareholders ahead of its Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) being held today at 11:00 a.m. at 131 Psalter Lane, Sheffield S11 8UX.
Addressing shareholders, Derek Bickerstaff, Chairman, will provide the following statement:
“I am pleased to announce that trading in the early part of the year ending 31 March 2027 (“FY 2027”) remains strong and in line with management expectations. Demand for NHS-funded elective care remains significant, and the Company is well positioned to continue supporting patients by providing much-needed care in areas with low NHS provision.
“Construction of our first surgical hub in Scunthorpe remains a key strategic milestone. I am delighted that the project is progressing well and remains on track to be delivered within the one-year construction period and within the original £8m to £9m construction cost estimate. The facility is expected to open in Spring 2027.
“Further sections of the roof have now been completed, an important milestone as the building moves towards becoming weather-tight ahead of autumn and winter, allowing an increasing level of internal activity to take place. Mechanical and electrical installation is also progressing, including first-fix work for key services such as wiring and pipework. Multiple trades are now operating concurrently across the site as the project moves into a more advanced phase of construction.
“Once operational, the surgical hub will provide an efficient, high-volume model of care, supporting the delivery of NHS-funded elective procedures. The facility will give patients greater access to treatment through the NHS Patient Choice pathway, whilst also helping to make more efficient use of NHS resources. The development is also intended to become a long-term healthcare asset for the local community, creating additional capacity in the region and supporting the delivery of planned surgery closer to where patients live. By providing dedicated surgical facilities, the hub will complement the existing NHS provision and help create greater flexibility in how and where patients can receive treatment.
“We anticipate continued growth in demand for our services from the NHS during FY 2027 and beyond, alongside the progression of our first surgical hub, which will deliver strategically important surgical capacity growth in underserved areas. The Company remains well placed to support the increasing demands of NHS commissioners and NHS patients through the delivery of more local healthcare, free at the point of use.
“We will continue to update shareholders on the surgical hub build and execution of our medium to long term growth strategy, which builds on the Company’s ongoing model of strong organic growth. We look forward to providing a further trading update for the six months ending 30 September 2026 in late October.”
