Alumasc (ALU.L), the premium sustainable building products, systems and solutions group provides the following trading update for the first quarter of its financial year ending 30 June 2027 (‘Q1 FY27’ or ‘the period’), ahead of its Annual General Meeting, to be held this morning at 10am.
Positive trading through Q1 FY27
The positive trading momentum in early FY27, signalled in the Group’s FY26 results announcement, has continued through Q1 FY27.
Group revenues for Q1 FY27 were 10% ahead of Q1 FY26, reflecting decisive actions to execute the Group’s commercial strategy. The period included the first call-offs from the £2m project at Changi Airport, Singapore, along with further sales to Chek Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong; excluding these, Group revenues were still 5% ahead of Q1 FY26, despite subdued demand conditions, particularly in UK residential construction markets.
Comparisons by division were as follows:
| Revenue | Q1 FY27 vs Q1 FY26 |
|---|---|
| Water Management | +13.3% |
| Building Envelope | +7.0% |
| Housebuilding Products | +6.4% |
| Group | +9.6% |
Margins have also improved year-on-year as expected, reflecting both the Group’s operational gearing and the benefit of recent restructuring actions.
Strong order intake momentum
Order intake during Q1 FY27 remained strong, providing encouraging early signs of improved conversion rates. The order book continued to increase over the period – both in absolute terms and relative to Q1 FY26 – despite the faster rate of call-offs, and at the end of September 2026 stood 67% higher than twelve months ago.
This positive momentum has continued into the early part of Q2 FY27; with orders won in the first weeks of October including:
£2.1m at Building Envelope, for the first phase of a student accommodation refurbishment project at Manchester University; and
£0.4m at Water Management, for the first phase of a significant upgrade project at Tin Can Island Port Complex, Nigeria, reflecting the Group’s efforts to diversify its export markets beyond the Middle East and Asia.
Timloc, our Housebuilding Products business, operates a next day delivery business model so does not have an order book, but continues to win market share and grow its revenues in a challenging housebuilding market.
Vijay Thakrar, Interim Executive Chair, commented:
“Against such a tough economic and construction market backdrop, it is encouraging to see the positive revenue and order intake momentum continue over Q1 FY27 and into the first weeks of Q2 across all of our divisions. Our management teams are performing well, under the leadership of the Executive Board, progressing our strategic self-help and organic growth objectives.
The Board remains confident of progress in FY27, in line with expectations, and in the Group’s ability to outperform its underlying markets and deliver significant shareholder value.”
