Renalytix plc (LSE: RENX) (OTCQB: RNLXY), a precision medicine diagnostics company focussed on kidney disease, announces that Julian Baines MBE has indicated his intention to stand down as Non-Executive Chair of Renalytix on 31 December 2026. Julian re-joined the Board of Renalytix in November 2024, having been Non-Executive Chairman from March 2018 to June 2020.

The Company is currently interviewing several senior industry executives who can support both US and global strategic partnering and distribution strategy for Renalytix’s lead product kidneyintelX.dkd and follow-on programmes. The Company expects to present candidate recommendations to the board of directors in the short-term for approval and will provide shareholders with further updates in due course.

Commenting Julian Baines, MBE, commented:

“With the recent signing of our multi-year partnership with Quest Diagnostics and the successful fundraising, which provides £10.5 million in gross proceeds for the Company, I feel it is an appropriate time for me to stand down, now that Renalytix’s funding and pathway to wide-scale adoption is on track.

“I firmly believe that kidneyintelX.dkd will revolutionise the way clinicians manage kidney disease and deliver improved patient outcomes. The Quest collaboration gives us the opportunity to rapidly rollout kidneyintelX.dkd testing services across the United States. I am very proud to have been part of Renalytix for the last two years as the business stabilised and we took actions to preserve capital and execute our cash plans.”

James McCullough, Chief Executive Officer, commented:

“I would like to extend the full thanks of the Board, all Renalytix staff and shareholders for Julian’s support over the many years since our London flotation in November 2018. Since then, Renalytix has published major data publications, and delivered regulatory, reimbursement and commercial milestones. Julian has been a valued part of our strategic decisions and success. I am delighted by the quality of the candidates with whom we are already engaging for the Chairman position and expect a smooth transition.”
