Portmeirion Group PLC, the global homeware brands group, announces the appointment of Adrian Wilding as interim CFO. Adrian will succeed Jonathan Hill, who has taken the decision to step back from the business and will therefore leave the Company and the Board on Friday 25 September 2026, due to health reasons.
Adrian is an ACA qualified CFO with over 20 years’ leadership experience delivering value creation across private equity-backed, listed and growth stage businesses. Most recently he was CFO of FireAngel Safety Technology where he joined the business to deliver the successful sale of the Group, alongside leading governance improvements, organisational redesign and working capital optimisation. Previous roles have included CFO positions at Universe Plc and CR7 Services Group as well as Director of Finance at Just Retirement Group, where he played a leading role in the business’ successful IPO and debt financing. Adrian is expected to join the Company on 28th September 2026.
The Board believes Adrian’s experience is highly relevant to Portmeirion’s next phase of development as it continues to make good progress against its strategic transformation plans, following the successful equity raise completed in H1. As confirmed in the Group’s recent trading update on the 28 July 2026, trading has continued in line with the Board’s expectations and the Group will provide more detail at its interim results on the 23 September 2026.
Jonathan suffered a serious injury while on vacation in Asia and after repatriation to UK, has been advised by health professionals that a lengthy period of recovery and rehabilitation is needed which requires that he step back from the business. Jonathan will be available to support the Group in a handover period to ensure an orderly transition.
A process to appoint a permanent CFO will now commence and further updates will be provided as appropriate.
Peter Tracey, Non-Executive Chair of Portmeirion Group PLC, commented:
"Following a serious accident we fully support Jon’s needs to prioritise his health and focus on a full and complete recovery. On behalf of the Board and the entire team at Portmeirion we send Jon our best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Our strategy and medium-term ambitions provide a clear framework for growth. The Board has taken the decision to move quickly with the appointment of an interim CFO. Adrian’s experience will support the continued execution of these exciting plans, working alongside CEO Michael Scheepers and our experienced and refreshed leadership team.”
Jonathan Hill, Group Finance Director, commented: "The decision to step back has been a very difficult one, but circumstances have dictated that I need to prioritise my health. The team have achieved a significant amount in the last year and I am confident that with Adrian onboard we can continue to build on this momentum following my departure."
