Iofina plc, specialists in the exploration and production of iodine and manufacturers of specialty chemical products, today provides an update on its activities during Q3 2026 (the "Period").
In the Period, Iofina made significant progress in executing its growth strategy. The additional brine supply pipeline at IO#11 was completed during the quarter, with the plant performing well, while IO#12 has been turned over to our operations team and should be producing iodine soon. The Company also announced agreements to start builds for IO#13 and IO#14, further strengthening its production growth pipeline, with ground to be broken shortly.
During the Period, Iofina Resources produced 205.2 metric tonnes ("MT") of crystalline iodine (Q3 2025: 215.8MT), which was lower than anticipated due to lower-than-expected total water volumes at our plants, plant maintenance, and delays in the completion of the IO#11 pipeline and in the commissioning of IO#12. Suppliers to plants in our central Oklahoma core area have implemented new upgrades which initially required certain disposal wells to be shut down while performing this work. The Company believes this is just a timing of many factors, and we can confirm that water volumes have improved as we collectively work back to the brine flows to previous levels.
Due to the impact of the lower levels of water at the plants, the delay in commissioning of the IO#11 brine line and the timing of IO#12, the Company now anticipates H2 production to be closer to 440-455MT, but notes that this remains dependent on water supply returning to anticipated levels at the affected legacy plants as well as IO#12's contribution. The Company will provide further updates as appropriate.
The iodine market remains strong, with current pricing in the mid-seventies and above per kilogram. Against this favourable backdrop, the Company's expanding production capacity is expected to drive further revenue growth and profitability, building on the record financial performance delivered in H1 2026.
President and CEO, Dr Tom Becker, commented:
“In the Period, Iofina has made substantial progress in executing its growth strategy. With the additional pipeline at IO#11 completed, IO#12 commissioned, and agreements secured for IO#13 and IO#14, we are executing on the expansion of our production capacity needed to expedite our growth.
“Whilst production in the Period was lower than anticipated, we are encouraged by the positive adjustments made by our water supply partners and continue to work to restore volumes to previous levels.
"The strong profitability achieved in H1 2026 demonstrates the earnings potential of our business. With iodine prices remaining firm and demand robust, we are expanding production capacity at an opportune time. As these additional plants come online, we expect to accelerate production growth towards 2000MT, strengthen profitability and deliver increasing value for shareholders."
