Ilika (AIM: IKA), a pioneer in solid state battery technology, is pleased to announce the appointment of Maj Gen (Retd) Robin Anderton-Brown as a strategic defence sector advisor to the Company. From his decades of experience in the military, Robin brings broad sector experience in senior leadership positions covering procurement, logistics, communication and information systems, strengthening Ilika’s links into additional markets.

Robin recently completed his 30-year military career, culminating as the 2 Star Director of Capability at UK Strategic Command, where he managed the Ministry of Defence’s most diverse equipment portfolio, including C4ISR, specialist systems, logistics and medical systems. He has led acquisition reform initiatives and established the MoD’s Integration Design Authority to enhance technical interoperability across Defence.

He commanded at Brigade level and was responsible for the provision of communication systems and information services to all of the Field Army’s deployable formations (Division and Brigade level). Since leaving the military, he focuses on board level support roles to advise companies to generate growth in the defence and security sector. He supports wider defence reform through advisory roles to defence expositions such as the Specialist Defence and Security Convention – UK (SDSC-UK) and has recently been appointed as Chair of the West Midlands Regional Defence and Security Cluster.

Ilika specialises in the developing and commercialisation of solid state batteries. The Company's mission is to rapidly develop leading-edge IP, manufacture and license solid state batteries for markets that cannot be addressed with conventional batteries due to their safety, charge rates, energy density and life limits. The Company achieves this by using ceramic-based lithium-ion technology that is inherently safe in manufacture and usage, higher thermal tolerance and easier to recycle which differentiates our products from existing batteries.

The Company has two product lines. Its Stereax batteries which are designed for powering miniature medical implants, industrial wireless sensors and specialist internet of Things (IoT) applications and the Goliath large format batteries designed for EV cars, consumer appliances and defence applications.
