Griffin Mining Limited ("Griffin" or the "Company") is saddened to announce the death of an employee of the mining contractor at the Caijiaying Mine (the "Mine") in the evening of Friday 11th October 2024. An ore pass full of excavated paste buried the mining contractor's loader and operator whilst he was excavating the material. The worker was immediately removed from the Mine and taken to Zhangbei Hospital but declared dead upon arrival.
Whilst Griffin has fully complied with all the prescribed legislative and regulatory procedures with all the relevant government departments and at all levels of the Chinese governmental structure, operations have been suspended at Caijiaying to facilitate a full investigation. All regulatory parties have expressed a desire to have the Mine re-open as quickly as possible.
Chairman's Statement
Chairman Mladen Ninkov commented, "A death in any family or organization is inevitably a tragedy for the family involved and the numerous people, organizations and entities whose life that person would have interacted with on a regular basis. In a company such as Griffin, where safety is not only our overwhelming priority, but also where contractors and their staff become part of the Griffin "family" this fatality has severely impacted our staff, contractors and operations. It strengthens our continuing resolve to redouble our efforts to ensure safety is our first, second and last priority. It may sound glib, but our sincerest condolences do truly go out to his family and friends."
