CleanTech Lithium PLC (AIM: CTL, Frankfurt:T2N), an exploration and development company advancing sustainable lithium projects in Chile, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gestión Ambiental Consultores (GAC) as the consultancy firm who will lead the preparation and processing of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for CleanTech Lithium’s flagship project, Laguna Verde. GAC has a high success rate in EIA approvals in Chile and has been awarded this contract based on its expertise in the Atacama region and impressive leadership team. Work is expected to start in the immediate future to capture seasonal baselines studies which will take a minimum of 12 months before being submitted to the authorities for review.
Furthermore, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position is maintained with Gordon Stein remaining as a non-board CFO. Mr Stein’s agreement with the Board has been extended to 31 December 2026. His role is primarily focused on the strategic partner process and the proposed dual-listing on the ASX.
Key Highlights:
GAC has been appointed to conduct and lead the EIA for CTL’s flagship project, Laguna Verde.
GAC has more than 30 years of experience in Chile and a track record of successfully securing the approval of EIAs in the mining, energy and infrastructure sectors, including extensive work in the Atacama Region.
After a thorough review of several proposals from different firms, GAC submitted the strongest technical offer, with a team of specialists to address topics such as water management, flora and fauna, and community relations.
GAC presented a robust engagement proposal with communities in the Atacama Region, particularly the Colla Indigenous communities who, under the existing agreement with CTL, will provide cultural and historical information for the EIA.
GAC’s offer includes a strong senior and strategic team to lead the preparation of the EIA and its subsequent review process, to meet both Chilean and international standards.
The new Chilean government has proposed reforms to the EIA review process to make it more efficient. CTL supports this initiative and will continue to work closely with the authorities to ensure a successful EIA.
The CFO position has been extended under the current consultancy agreement with non-board CFO Gordon Stein. The role is in place until 31 Dec where it will be reviewed again.
Ignacio Mehech, Chief Executive Officer of CleanTech Lithium PLC, said: “We particularly value the experience, technical capability, and commitment in the proposal submitted by GAC. With the PFS for Laguna Verde completed, the CEOL progressing through its final approval process, and the highly encouraging technical results announced recently, we are building significant momentum. The appointment of GAC is another important step in this process, strengthening our ability to advance Laguna Verde, engage with potential strategic partners and progress the funding required for the next phase of development.
We also recognise the continued support Gordon Stein provides in his role as CFO and his firm commitment to drive the Company forward throughout the strategic partner process and the upcoming ASX listing.”
EIA Process
The EIA will be supported by four full seasons of baseline data collected across the project area and access routes, covering climate, flora and fauna, water management, and other relevant environmental areas. The EIA will be prepared in parallel with the baseline studies to ensure an efficient work programme and will be submitted to the relevant authorities once the studies and environmental assessment are complete. The process will include input from indigenous communities and will be subject to final approval by the Chilean authorities. The Company expects to make the submission once data collection from all four seasons has been captured.
CFO Position
On 11 August 2025, the Company announced that Gordon Stein would step down from the Board as a director while continuing in his role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In February 2026, the Board engaged Mr Stein under a consulting agreement to lead the process of selecting a strategic partner to fund the next stage of project development, and to progress the Company’s dual listing on the ASX. The Board has since extended Mr Stein’s consulting agreement to 31 December 2026, at which point it will be reviewed again.
