AI Identifies Copper and Lead-Zinc Target Systems
Botswana Minerals plc has announced that further AI analysis of its copper prospecting licences in north-west Botswana has identified multiple target systems, including copper-silver-nickel-cobalt anomalies consistent with VMS-style systems and a 20-kilometre lead-zinc geochemical corridor interpreted as MVT-style mineralisation. Hyperspectral analysis also highlighted alteration zones linked to potential hydrothermal mineralisation, distinct from the lead-zinc corridor. These findings support the company's AI-driven exploration strategy and will guide the next phase of work, which includes geophysical surveys and geochemical sampling to advance priority targets towards drilling.

Highlights
- Multiple targets identified across recently awarded copper-prospective licences in north-west Botswana.
- Two distinct mineral system models defined:
o Copper-silver-nickel-cobalt anomalies consistent with VMS-style systems; and
o A 20 km MVT-style lead-zinc geochemical corridor.
- AI and hyperspectral analysis highlight alteration zones linked to potential hydrothermal mineralisation.
- Clear next-step targets defined for geophysics, sampling and fieldwork ahead of drilling.
Botswana Minerals plc (AIM: BMIN; BSE: BMIN) reports encouraging results from integrated geological and AI-enhanced initial exploration analysis across its copper prospecting licences in north-west Botswana.
The analysis has identified several target systems within the Company's licence areas, prospective for copper, silver, zinc, lead, nickel and cobalt.
Two principal exploration models have been defined:
- Anomalies with copper-silver-nickel-cobalt signatures, consistent with potential Besshi-type volcanogenic massive sulphide ("VMS") systems; and
- A continuous geochemical corridor extending over approximately 20 kilometres, interpreted as consistent with Mississippi Valley-Type ("MVT") lead-zinc mineralisation.
In addition, hyperspectral analysis has identified iron oxide and clay alteration zones, which may represent surface expressions of underlying hydrothermal systems. These zones are supported by copper, silver, cobalt and nickel signatures that are distinct from the Pb-Zn-dominated MVT corridor elsewhere on the licences.
These early-stage results support the Company's AI-driven exploration strategy and will guide the next phase of work. This will include geophysical surveys and further geochemical sampling with the objective of advancing priority targets towards drilling.
The Company holds an extensive land position of approximately 7,000 km² in the Damaran Belt, a region considered prospective for multiple mineral deposit styles, as well as high-priority diamond prospective licences.
John Teeling, Chairman, commented: "The AI analysis of our database has continued to deliver insights. Further work has identified two large-scale mineral systems, one prospective for copper, the second for lead-zinc, which will focus our next phase of exploration as we advance towards defining drilling targets".
