Alkemy Capital Investments plc ("Alkemy") (LSE: ALK) (JV2:FRA), is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Rose as Chief Operating Officer ("COO") of its wholly owned subsidiary Tees Valley Lithium ("TVL"), effective immediately.

Richard brings over 20 years of operational and project delivery experience across large-scale chemical and energy infrastructure with Agratas, Johnson Matthey and Faradion.

His appointment comes as TVL moves from design into execution readiness, strengthening the team responsible for delivering the UK's flagship lithium refinery.

Operational Excellence Programme

Alongside Richard's appointment, TVL has launched its Operational Excellence Programme. This programme will help optimise long-term operating costs and support continued reductions in capital expenditure. It is a structured initiative to embed world-class standards, systems, and culture across every stage of the project.

The programme focuses on five key pillars:

  • Safety and Compliance - integrating best-practice process safety and digital permitting
  • Reliability and Availability - using predictive tools to achieve >90% plant uptime
  • Product Quality - meeting Tier-1 battery-grade specifications with full traceability
  • Cost Optimisation - maintaining Europe's lowest capital intensity through performance benchmarking
  • People and Capability - developing a local skills and training pipeline with regional partners

By embedding these principles early, TVL is building the foundation for safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

TVL CEO Vikki Jeckell commented:

"Richard's appointment and the launch of our Operational Excellence Programme reflect the next stage in TVL's evolution, moving from design to delivery.

By embedding best-in-class operational practices early, we're ensuring the refinery is built not only to the highest standards of safety and efficiency, but with systems, people, and processes needed for long-term success."

TVL COO Richard Rose commented:

"Operational excellence starts long before the first tonne of product is produced.

Our focus now is on defining the systems and culture that will underpin TVL's performance, building a refinery that is efficient, safe, reliable, and proudly operated by local people.

It's incredibly exciting to be part of a major chemical manufacturing project here in the UK, drawing on the deep industrial skills and experience that already exists across Teesside and the wider region. Together, we have the opportunity to create something truly world-class that showcases the strength of British manufacturing."
